Lisa Harer de Calvo, Assistant Conductor, Music Director, Pianist

Lisa Harer de Calvo is a freelance opera coach and pianist in the Philadelphia area. She previously resided in South Florida where, for seven seasons, she was the Head Coach of the Florida Grand Opera Young Artist Studio. Since relocating to this area, she has worked with the Opera Company of Philadelphia, where she has been Musical Assistant and Titles Operator for productions of La Périchole, La Traviata, Il trovatore, Die Fledermaus, Un ballo in maschera, La bohème, Falstaff, Rigoletto, Hänsel und Gretel and Norma.

She was also Rehearsal Pianist for OperaDelaware's productions of The Mikado, a double-bill of The Medium and The Telephone as well as Gianni Schicchi. She also played Celeste and Organ in the OperaDelaware orchestra for Turandot and piano for The Telephone and The Medium. Most recently Ms. Harer de Calvo has served as Assistant Music Director for ConcertOPERA Philadelphia's 2008 production of Auber's Fra Diavolo and rehearsal pianist/orchestra keyboard for OperaDelaware's 2008 production of Mark Adamo's Little Women. She also has worked with the Delaware Symphony, playing Celeste in the Classical Concert Series and Piano in the Youth Explorer Concert Series.

She has also served as Musical Assistant and Pianist for the Philadelphia Kantorei, assisting in the preparation of choruses for the Pennsylvania Ballet and was a guest artist at Augusta Opera for their 2002 production of Faust.

Ms. Harer de Calvo has also worked as coach and accompanist at the Curtis Institute of Music, The New Jersey Opera Theater and Elysium Concert Opera. Her international credits include masterclasses for the Compañía Lírica Nacional de Costa Rica and a 2002 concert tour of the Adriatic with the Florida Grand Opera.

She, along with her husband José Calvo, will be presenting Masterclasses at the Universidad de Costa Rica, San José, in March of 2009.

Ms. Harer de Calvo has been on the Music Faculties of The New England Conservatory of Music, where she also received her Master's Degree in Vocal Accompaniment, and the Opera Institute at Boston University. She lives in Lansdowne, PA, with her husband José, where she maintains a private coaching studio of professional opera singers.
